43% of those deaths are children under five years old.
80% of diseases in developing countries are waterborne and preventable with clean water and improved sanitation.
Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 16,000 lives every week
I said, SAVE 16,000 lives EVERY WEEK!
663 million people in the world live without clean water. That’s nearly 1 in every 10 people worldwide.
Or, twice the population of the United States.
The majority live in isolated rural areas and spend hours every day walking to collect water for their family.
Not only does walking for water keep children out of school or take up a lot of time that parents could be using to earn money,
but the water often carries diseases that can make everyone sick.
We at the IMTTA feel that as a group of people who profess to care enough about other people to want to dedicate our lives to being healers and teachers, we need to do something about this.
Charity Water is a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries.
They work with local experts and community members to find the best sustainable solution in each village, whether it’s a well, a piped system, a BioSand Filter, or a system for harvesting rainwater. They fund their partners, coordinate sanitation and hygiene training, and establish local Water Committees to help keep water flowing for years to come.
Unlike so many other ‘charities, these guys use 100% of all donations to fund water projects.
As a group, we have the power to do something seriously amazing!
The water project costs vary depending on project type, geography, and local economies.
On average, projects start at $10,000 and can cost $25,000 or more.
By raising these funds, we can bring clean water to a whole village, for generations to come and directly save hundreds of lives.
Why wouldn’t we do this?
100% of the funds we raise will be used on the water project and we will receive reports about our project along the way,
which we will post on this page to keep you informed.
Are you interested in helping save hundreds of people from dying because of their filthy water supply …needless deaths that we actually can do something about?
There are a lot of tragic things that happen in our world, which you and I are powerless to do anything about.
But this time we can. This is a BIG issue and together we can make a BIG difference.
Bringing clean water to people looks different in each country and from village to village.
Water sources, terrain, and population all play a part in determining what technology is required to serve people best, but there is a solution to everything.
Skilled labourers dig up to 15 meters by hand to reach aquifers below.
A drilling team drills deep into the earth to reach fresh aquifers.
Gutters on rooftops direct the flow of rainfall into a sanitary holding tank.
The force of gravity feeds water into a community from an elevated source.
Networks of pipes supply water to different community tap stands.
Installed treatment systems remove contaminants from existing systems.
Layers of sand and micro bacterial film filter out contaminants.
A system captures and safely stores pure water from a natural spring.
Covered shelters provide safety and privacy for bathroom users.
100% of all donations go toward the project.
